AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION CLASSES

CPR for Family and Friends
COURSE LENGTH

All ages: 4 hours
Adult: 2 hours
Infant and child: 2 hrs

COURSE DESCRIPTION CPR for Family and Friends is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers skills in CPR and relief of FBAO. The course presents information about the AHA adult Chain of Survival and signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking in adults. The course also presents information on the AHA pediatric Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children.
INTENDED AUDIENCE All lay rescuers, such as schoolchildren, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, and other laypersons who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones.

Heartsaver FACTS
COURSE LENGTH

7 to 8 hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION The Heartsaver FACTS Course combines adult CPR and use of an AED with basic first aid. Students will learn how to perform adult CPR, relieve FBAO, provide rescue breathing with a barrier device, use an AED, and give first aid for acute injuries and sudden illnesses.
INTENDED AUDIENCE All lay responders, such as firefighters, police, airline personnel, security personnel, employees in the workplace, other lay rescuers, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.

Heartsaver CPR
COURSE LENGTH

All ages: 5 to 6 hours
Adult only: 3 hours
Infant/child only: 3 hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION The Heartsaver CPR Course is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child, and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. The Heartsaver CPR program offers 3 different courses.

Heartsaver CPR for All Ages teaches CPR and relief of FBAO in the adult, infant, and child.

Heartsaver CPR for Adults teaches CPR and relief of FBAO in the adult.

Heartsaver CPR for Infants and Children teaches CPR and relief of FBAO for infants (birth to 1 year of age) and children (1 to 8 years of age).
INTENDED AUDIENCE All lay rescuers, such as employees in the workplace, daycare workers, baby-sitters, firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other lay rescuers, and those who may need to respond to an emergency.

6 to 7 hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION The Heartsaver CPR in Schools Course is designed to teach both adult and pediatric lay rescuer CPR to middle and high school students. The course presents information about the AHA adult and pediatric Chain of Survival, signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking in adults. The course also covers signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children.
